Sandy Hill Community Health Centre (SHCHC) serves residents of Sandy Hill and Old Ottawa East. The main centre is situated at 221 Nelson St., at the corner of Nelson and Rideau St. A satellite site located in the old school at 88 Main St (corner of Main St. and Lees Ave.) offers addition programs and services to the residents in Old Ottawa East.

SHCHC Main Location: 221 Nelson St.

This centre provides primary care health services; addictions and problem gambling services; social services including crisis workers and counselling; and, a wide variety of other workshops and programs related to health promotion, early childhood education, and seniors programing.

SHCHC Old Ottawa East Location: 88 Main St.

Current Programs

  • English as a Second Language programs
  • Newcomer’s Conversation Group
  • Prenatal and Parenting Education Workshops
  • First Aid / CPR workshops
  • Healthy Lifestyles programs
  • In tandum with other programs, Homework tutorial program, Children’s Reading Circle, Parent and Child Playgroup drop-in, Children’s toy and book lending library, and more.

Current Services

  • Social services outreach workers,
  • Social services referrals and assistance related to housing, employment, health education, legal presentations, etc.

In addition to the services listed above, SHCHC staff respond to emerging community health interests and concerns that are raised by the residents of the Sandy Hill and Old Ottawa East neighbourhoods.
