APPENDIX B: Chronicle of correspondence on speed limit question

These e-mails were exchanged on the subject of evaluating the merits of speed limit reductions for the Queensway. This correspondence was in addition to the verbal inquiries made to all the PAC meetings and at some of the PIC (Public Involvement Centre) sessions. Summary of e-mail communications with actual copies in a pdf file:

  1. February 12, 2003 – Pierre Johnson (PAC member) to David Lindensmith (MTO) following up on PIC conversation citing examples from other cities and asking for response.
  2. July 21, 2003 – Pierre Johnson to David Lindensmith following up citing air quality relationship with speed and looking for response.
  3. April 8, 2004 – Pierre Johnson to David Lindensmith providing more details along with request.
  4. April 8, 2004 – David Lindensmith asking Pierre Johnson for more background information.
  5. April 19, 2004 – Pierre Johnson providing David Lindensmith with additional details (other examples of cities, on optimal speed, on “driver adaptation” to coming off high speed highways and on air quality).
  6. June 7, 2004 – Pierre Johnson to David Lindensmith and Brian Ruck (TSH) asking a number of questions after PIC and in anticipation of upcoming PAC including whether the speed limit issue will be covered.
  7. August 2, 2004 – Pierre Johnson asking if David Lindensmith has answer as promised.
  8. August 6, 2004 – David Lindensmith replying to Pierre Johnson that the response is not finished yet.
  9. September 20, 2004 – Pierre Johnson to David Lindensmith providing two more examples (Waterloo and the Trans-Canada in Edmunston) while following up in search of a response.
  10. September 27, 2004 – David Lindensmith to Pierre Johnson acknowledging the latest e-mail and once again promising follow-up.

Brian Ruck of TSH was copied on all but the last e-mail in the list above.

No reply or follow-up was received on this question. There is no mention in this issue in the final draft of the TESR published in January 2007.
