  1. Sidewalk/Pathway/Laneway
    • Onslow S of Burnham-patch and then all asphalt
    • Beckwith E Marlowe-asphalt
    • Glengarry-asphalt
    • Belgrave-asphalt
    • Elliot-asphalt particularly between Onslow and Bullock
    • Main S of Elliot-asphalt patches and uneven sidewalk
    • Centennial-small asphalt patches, no sidewalks E of Bullock
    • Riverdale NW side SW of Glenview-asphalt and in poor condition
    • Mutchmore SW side N of Mason-asphalt and in poor condition
    • Bower and Mutchmore-asphalt sidewalks
    • Concord-asphalt patches
    • Concord, Greenfield, Havelock, Montcalm: asphalt
    • Hazel off Main, asphalt
    • Glenora-asphalt
    • Hazel & Drummond-asphalt, NW corner is a hazard
    • Herridge-new sidewalks completely asphalt, and terribly done-why?
    • Echo from Main to Q/way-asphalt, and too small
    • Lees Avenue-small uneven patchy sidewalks with very low curbs
    • McNaughton and McGillivray-asphalt patches, and vegetation growing through cracks
    • Main & Riverdale-badly cracked vegetation growing throughout
    • No sidewalk from Springhurst Park to park on Evelyn
    • Rideau River-no sidewalk E of Avenue Rd.
    • Rideau Garden-no sidewalks
    • Montcalm near Greenfield-no sidewalk on N side
    • Domicile development on Springhurst, are they going to be putting in sidewalks as per the drawing?
    • Trail along river by Rideau Garden is poorly graded
    • Trail along river by Rideau River poorly graded
    • Laneways running N/S behind Rosemere, Concord and Simcoe-grading and drainage issues
    • Dirt Trail along Rideau river from Transitway to Oblates- needs grading
    • Main S of Clegg-widening opportunity
    • Main St. along Immaculata property-sidewalk could be widened
    • Springhurst from Main to Rosemere, telephone poles are in the road
    • Main W side S of Clegg, small and in bad condition
    • Main at Echo-akward corner fro pedestrians-needs to realigned and/or better marked.
    • Kings Landing & Nicholas path to get from Greenfield to the Canal is dirt, no steps, and too sheltered for safety
    • Harvey and Concord-potential for pedestrian path behind properties
  2. Traffic Issues
    • Fast travelling vehicles coming off of Main on to Rideau River where there are no sidewalks and sightlines are poor
    • Colonel By and Clegg-pedestrian crossing light required (see traffic plan)
    • Clegg and Echo-needs a stop sign-safety issue
    • Marlowe-Nbound traffic cutting down Marlowe when Main is busy
      • -Need ‘No Right Turn’ 7-9am / 3-6am
    • Graham at Main-contra-flow bicycle lane, misleading signage
      • -Suggestions-small island set back from the intersection
      • -Better signage
    • Graham (one way street) at Echo-terrible signage indicating traffic flow direction
    • Main and Lees-walk signal only if button is pushed-want this changed
    • Springhurst-cut through traffic-solution one way W for one block E of Main
    • Hawthorne and Concord-bulb out w/ do not enter signs
    • Hawthorne-2000 Mainstreet streetscaping report-oneway signs mid block, cycling lane painted in on S side, 40K speed limit, speed bumps?,
    • Echo-constant noise from Colonel By traffic
    • Parking for businesses on Hawthorne
    • East end of Montcalm and Havelock-Needs a Sound barrier
    • Main S of Elliot-bollards needed to protect pedestrians and homes from cars running up on sidewalk/lawns
    • L off Marlowe onto Clegg difficult due to parking on both sides of Clegg
    • Bower and Beckwith Light?
  3. Potential Parking to ease lack of parking Issues
    • Main and Latvian Church
    • Main-Scotia Bank-beside and behind
    • De Mazenod school on Main St.
      • -City Parking with a section of free parking for people using the programs run out of the school-or stamps that would let them leave free of charge-most people using the programs here (ESL etc) are probably not driving here, Ask Chris if this assumption is true.
    • Graham-W of St Nicholas Adult Highschool
    • Lees Transitway station parking
    • NE corner of Main and Harvey –angle parking across from the Emporium on Harvey
  4. Asthetics
    • Bullock and Elliot-triangle island of land surrounded by low curb and the street
      • -Higher curb and perennials would be very pleasing to the eye
    • Clegg & Echo & Colonel By-plants in planters could use some love and care
      • -Could this be a community project?
    • Snow fencing at E end of Clegg at the river-why?
    • Snow fence at Montcalm near Greenfield-reduces visibility-and an eyesore
  5. Wish list/Large projects
    • Hawthorne:
      • -Stand posts for water mains are on outer edge of sidewalk due to the widening of the road.
      • -Sidewalks are small and slope down towards road.
      • -Telephone poles are in the Road
      • -Hawthorne at the Pretoria bridge-terrible intersection
      • -Ballantyne Park- fence-need to make it an ‘active’ instead of ‘passive’ park
    • Brantwood gates
      • A) restoration
      • B) One brass plaque missing
    • Main & Riverdale intersection
      • -Hazard to pedestrians and cyclists
      • -See 2000 Main Street traffic study
    • Lees Avenue –Streetscaping-See 2000 Main Street study
    • Rideau River-small boat docks in Springhurst and Brantwood parks
    • Hydro Ottawa transformer
      • -field fenced off but appears to not be in use
      • -could it be used for anything?
  6. Opportunities for Development
    • Main St from Q/way to Echo should be designated as a mainstreet in the new OP
    • Clegg and Main-NW corner-double lot
    • 66 Main-Halpin Foods-potential café or restaurant-parking will be an issue
    • 7 Graham-double lot
    • 95 Main St-vacant commercial space
    • Green space on S side of Lees Avenue
    • Old Algonquin Campus on Lees
    • Old military Base-160 Lees Ave.-Instead of AV corridor, opportunity for infill housing, this would also close the gap on Lees between houses and highrises
    • Old Peach Gardens
    • Immaculata green area along Main-mixed use main street style development
    • E side of Main St. between Oblate & Hazel-mixed use development
    • Main St between 170 & 176-vacant lot
    • 252 main St-opportunity for small bakery etc.
    • SW corner of Main and Harvey-underdeveloped mixed use properties-vacant
    • Space in front of Legion-patio?
    • Montcalm at Greenfield-triangle space-could be a perennial garden
    • Greenfield at Havelock triangle could be used for development
