Sustainable
Living Ottawa East (SLOE)
Seeking
gardeners to volunteer on an occasional Saturday during
the summer in the Childrens Garden to answer thoughtprovoking
questions from young gardeners, and help with informal digging,
planting, and rooting around. Please e-mail SLOEottawa@gmail.com.
The
Main Farmers Market organizing committee is looking
for local crafters interested in being vendors at the
market. If you are interested please contact Kirsten Stoebenau
at kstoeben@uottawa.ca.
Please
join SLOE on May 24 for tree planting and shoreline management/clean-up
work, along the shoreline, as part of the Rideau River
Nature Trail initiative.

2. Brantwood Fieldhouse (to clean Brantwood Park and Robert
Leggett Park)
3. Lady Evelyn Alternative School (to clean the neighbourhood
and Springhurst Park)
All ages welcome! Meet your neighbours while helping to
beautify our community! Gloves, bags, and light refreshments
will be provided. *Sponsored by Sustainable Living Ottawa
East (SLOE), in conjunction with the City of Ottawas
Spring Cleaning the Capital 2007 campaign.

I am an energetic and loving mother of two. I provide fun
and exciting activities used to encourage children to explore
the world around them. Activities include free play, music
with songs and instruments, reading, crafts, outdoor play,
outings, etc. Healthy and nutritious meals and snacks are
provided. A log is completed at the end of the day to let
you know of your childs adventures. Great suppertime

Seminar: Hidden toxins in your home: what you dont
know could hurt you.
A seminar and discussion featuring Patti Murphy and Tamey
McIntosh, creators of Pureknowhow.com, a website that connects
the facts about toxins in our everyday products and delivers
practical, do-able solutions. Saturday, April
26, 10:00 a.m. at Watsons Pharmacy and Wellness Centre,

Canoeists
needed!
The 9th annual Rideau River cleanup will take place later
than usual this year because of the late peak river flow.
Bring your canoe and meet us Saturday, June 7, at 9:00 in
Brantwood Park to help clean debris from the river (including
the east bank) from Brantwood Park to Smyth Road. Call Carol
Alette/Jim Fraser at 613-565-1963 or Terry/ Nancy Yarwood
at 613-233-7676 if you are able to help with the river cleanup.

Positions
vacant in Old Ottawa East
The Community Activities Group (CAG) is looking to hire
instructors for the following programs:
Outdoor
Soccer for 4 - 6 year olds: Two instructors are required.
Applicants need some soccer experience, knowledge of simple
soccer drills, and demonstrated ability to work with young
children. Successful applicants will require a police check;
at least one instructor must be at least 16 years old and
have a current certificate in First Aid with Level C CPR
or be willing to take the course. Program runs Saturdays,
May 10 to June 21, from 10:00 a.m. to noon in Brantwood
Park.
Junior
Sports for 4 - 6 year olds: The successful applicant
will have knowledge of a wide variety of sports suitable
for children, including soccer, dodge ball, soccer baseball,
parachute games, and variations of tag, and the ability
to adapt to needs of participants. Applicant will be required
to have a police check, must be a minimum of 16 years of
age and have a current certificate in First Aid with Level
C CPR or be willing to take the course. Program runs Tuesdays,
May 13 to June 17. from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in Brantwood Park.
